A Little Bit About Mandy

Your story matters

Welcome! I’m glad you’re here. Browsing for support is a big step! Caring for our brain health is just as important as caring for our heart health, and what that looks like is unique for each individual. Rapport with your therapist is the foundation of the work
you'll do in therapy. It’s a must and sometimes it can be hard to find. Connection is important, as is feeling safe and comfortable. Feel free to book a free 20 minute phone consultation so we can decide together if we’d be a good fit. If we’re not, no worries; I can help you find someone who is!

Education/Experience

My name is Mandy and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Social Work and my Bachelors of Science in Sociology/Anthropology in 2008 at Nebraska Wesleyan University. I worked as a Public Health Social Worker in Early Childhood Development and Parenting Support until I graduated with my Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work from The University of Kansas in 2018. I am honored to be a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.

After receiving my masters degree, I established my private practice in Kansas, offering Equine-facilitated Psychotherapy. I believe in the incorporation of the whole body in treatment. In our work together, regardless of setting, gaining self-awareness will go beyond your thoughts and feelings, and encourage exploration of your body's physical response to life experiences. As your self-awareness grows, your ability to change grows.

Who/What/When/Where/How:

I work with people who identify as neurotypical and neurodivergent. I am an Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) myself. I provide in person and virtual therapy for individuals ages 10 up. I support many challenges and needs, including, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Attachment Disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), teens struggles, anxiety, and depression. The modalities I use include Trauma-informed Care, T-CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution-focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Experiential Therapy, and Somatic Therapy. I will begin EMDR training in December.

What you can expect from me:

Trauma-Informed Care is the foundation of my practice and interwoven in all that I do. I appreciate opportunities to educate others on how traumatic experiences impact our brains. It helps us make sense of the why behind what we do and gives us the insight we need to move toward empowerment. It respects and honors the impact experiences have on brain functioning and highlights the human capacity for resilience. It creates an opportunity to re-wire our brain for healthier functioning, opening the door for endless possibilities.

I approach the therapist-client relationship as a partnership and therapy as a journey. I believe that you are the expert of your story and already have many strengths that will guide you along your unique path. It takes courage to seek out the life you want and take steps toward change. I am here for support along the way.

Insurance:

For now, I am not accepting insurance and am only private pay. I am able to provide a superbill for out of network reimbursement in the meantime. To see if you are eligible for out of network reimbursement, you will need to contact your insurance company directly.

Starting 2025, I will be accepting Aetna, Optum/United Healthcare, and Cigna, as well as private pay. I cannot offer support to those qualifying for Medicaid or Medicare at this time. Please see the home page or the FAQ section for more details about insurance coverage and payment options.
